Liverpool veteran Sami Hyypia has agreed to end his 10-year spell at the club after he agreed to join German club Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season.
Hyypia, a fan favourite, said: "The discussions with Bayer were very positive. They gave me the feeling they wanted to sign me,"
"I look forward to the task in Leverkusen and hope that we will be successful together."
A statement on liverpoolfc.tv read: "Hyypia underwent a medical with the German outfit on Monday morning and will link up with his new team-mates in the summer for the start of pre-season training.
"The Finnish international has earned legendary status at Anfield for the part he has played in the club's many successes over the past decade - and he will leave Merseyside with the best wishes of every Liverpool supporter."
