Liverpool managing director Christian Purslow has backed manger Rafa Benitez despite the clubs early exit from the Champions League.
He said: "This has absolutely no bearing on Rafa whatsoever. He signed a new five-year deal only months ago.
"You don't deviate from long-term plans because of two late goals against Lyon and that's what it boils down to."
He added: "If we have three home games in the UEFA Cup we are equivalent to what we budget for in this competition."
